Squads and results.

We are one of the few Competitive clubs who have a learners section that enrolls children who can't yet swim.  They practice on Thursday nights for one hour - swimming breadths.  We have six groups in this session who are taught broadly in line with the ASA National Plan for teaching beginners.  When they are assessed as being able to fulfill the requirements of their group, they will receive a certificate and move up a group until they have arrived at the top group where they will become competent in all swimming strokes, and on to the competitive element of the club where they will enter competition and put in more time training.

in this element of the club, swimmers are in three distinctive groupings based on their ability:
                    JUNIOR                    INTERMEDIATE                       SENIOR

Swimming sessions are as follows:

Day Time Venue
Sunday 5.30pm to 7.30pm Ballysillan Leisure Centre
Monday 6.00pm to 8.00pm Grove well Being Centre
Tuesday 6.00pm to 7.00pm Ballysillan Leisure Centre
Thursday
(Junior club)
6.00pm to 7.00pm Grove well Being Centre
Thursday
(Senior Club)
7.00pm to 8.00pm) Grove well Being Centre

Training is planned for the abilities of the swimmers in these groups, who are encouraged to enter Open type galas usually organized by Swim Ulster.  We compete in the Forest Feast Aquasprint League and the Provincial Towns League, which means around 12 galas a year to some of the swimmers.  Add on the 6 galas organized by the region and there are quite a lot of events for the swimmers to take part in.
